Discussion Forums
Groupsites come standard with integrated discussion forums that combine the most useful features found in many message boards with listserv-like functionality. Members can create topics within forums that group managers define. All participants in a given topic have the option of subscribing to replies within that topic via email. Managers are also able to blast important topics via email to members and pending group members.
Group Blog
Have articles, opinions or ideas to publish? Host and maintain a group blog from right inside your Groupsite.
A group blog is a standard feature of all Groupsites - and, no technical skill is required to use it. Make your blog Public - open to anyone, even if your Groupsite is private – or, Limited - visible only to Groupsite members. Choose to allow only group managers to author blog posts, or open blog authoring capability to all group members. And, it’s portable: embed your group blog into any other corporate or personal Website, quickly and easily.
Email Blasts
Another standard feature: send plain text or rich HTML formatted emails to group members using our advanced WYSIWYG editor. Attach images, files and embed videos (from sites like YouTube) within email blasts. And, set permissions: sending email blasts can be limited to group managers, or open to all members.
Group Calendar
Coordinate schedules for your online community with a shared calendar. Add group and private events. Send invitations via email and gather RSVP responses and comments. Export calendar data to popular iCal and Outlook formats. It’s all here, integrated and standard in Groupsites.
File Storage
Free Groupsites include limited file storage space of 25 megabytes. Add additional storage capacity for sharing documents photos and more in 3 gigabyte increments for $9/month.
Photo Galleries
Groupsites come standard with a photo sharing area. Group managers and members can share photos and images within dedicated galleries. All galleries allow for automated playback, thumbnail previews and member comments.
Embedded Videos
Embed videos within your Groupsite from YouTube, Viddler or any other popular video service. Enhance your discussions, Summary page, Content Modules and more by adding video, quickly and easily.
Dual Profiles
Dual profile personas (professional and social) for every member. And, a unique bio builder (profile wizard) helps ensure profile completeness. Other profile elements include: skills, interests, objectives, custom (manager-defined) group questions and custom (member-defined) profile elements.
Member Objectives
What do you want to accomplish? Get a jump-start by using Member Objectives. Objectives let each member share what they want to accomplish, personally or professionally, within the group. Other Groupsite members can see your objective, and you can see theirs -- great for networking and making things happen. Others learn how they may help you; and, you can contact those you may be able to help.
Shared Connections
Share key connections within your group and strengthen your group's network – privately and securely. You’ll share connections that may help other members meet their objectives. Then, browse the contacts of others that may be able to help you.
All sharing is done in a private manner: if a group member wants an introduction to your shared connection, they’ll contact you directly.
Subgroups
Subgroups are a way to create separate groupings within a Groupsite. These subgroups have all of the standard features of a Groupsite (discussions, email, blog, calendar, file cabinet, member profiles, member objectives) while also allowing you to narrow the number of participants.
Subgroups can be setup to be public, private or limited in visibility.
Enhanced Security
Site-wide 128-bit SSL
SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer, but what it really means is that the data sent between Groupsite.com and your computer is safely encrypted from prying eyes. It's the same technology that online banks and e-commerce sites use to keep your credit card information safe and that we already use on sensitive areas of your site. If extra security is important to you then site-wide SSL is what you need.
Permission Controls
Upgrade to Premium Permission Controls to control the sharing and access of information within your Groupsite.
